Upcoming Events/Outings
Vanguard Chapter membership meetings will be held in-person at Dinosaur Hill on the second Thursday of each month, unless noted below, throughout the fall and winter. Meetings begin at 7:30pm and provide attendees an opportunity to hear about happenings within the chapter as well as around the state which impact TU’s mission of preserving and protecting coldwater fisheries. Each meeting will have a guest speaker and I am pleased to announce the following schedule for this meeting season:
2025 Events:
March 8th & 9th - Midwest Fly Fishing Expo at Macomb Community College in Warren. This is a great event to see fly tying, hear presentations by experienced guides on places to fish and helpful techniques, and to shop for new gear. Vanguard members needed to man our booth and to sell raffle tickets for our annual fundraiser. midwestflyfishingexpo.com
March 13th @ 6:30pm – Vanguard Chapter Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting will be held at Antoniou’s Town Square Pizza, 918 Rochester Road. All you can eat pizza, salad, bread, and pop are free! A cash bar is also available. Come join us to celebrate the coming of Spring! At this meeting we will also elect Board Members & Committee Chairs, review our annual budget, and outline the schedule for habitat installation in Paint Creek this summer (Phase 4). We always welcome hearing new ideas and suggestions from members at this annual event. Your input matters and helps us move the chapter forward. Information will be sent to all members soon outlining committee opportunities if you would like to be more involved.
April 26th – Trout Season Opening. Join other club members at the Rochester City Park for an opening day celebration and first day of fishing in 2025!
